This course aims to further develop students’ spoken and written discourse skills in Japanese. Acquisition of intermediate grammar, kanji scripts, and oral communication skills will be emphasized. As language is to the large extent shaped by culture, aspects of Japanese people and their culture will also be discussed in the context of language learning. Students will learn an additional 80 kanji in this course. The goal is to advance toward completion of the first 500 kanji; you will have studied about 300 by the end of this term. By the end of the course, students should be able to able to comprehend and produce lower intermediate level materials.
Note: Japanese 2 spans 12 weeks of instruction and consists of four three-week-long modules. Successful completion of all four modules is necessary to progress to the next level.
